Una perla en mi cuerpo
Una perla en mi cuerpo is a collection of objects, drawings and paintings inspired by Bezoar stones. Bezoars are gems that were highly valued in European courts for their attributes as antidotes to poison, and are collected to this day for up to ten times their weight in gold. They are formed in the digestive tracts of animals, including humans, which react to the appearance of an indigestible and inexpellable foreign material, which is frequently hair. The material is covered by a layer of calcium phosphate in a process similar to that of the formation of pearls in oysters. By producing bezoars, the human body operates like a gem mine. To create artificial bezoars, I immersed my own hair in simulated digestive fluids used in the vitamin and processed food industry to test the digestibility of products. These fluids are made up of the same salts that are used as preservatives, synthetic yeasts, antifreeze, etc.
Ápice
Ápice is a series of drawings made with retractable colored pens on paper.
They function as a compilation of self-referential anecdotes that precede my first graphic novel, on which I am currently working.
Fragancia hipnótica
Fragancia hipnótica is a series that compiles paintings and pieces made with recovered objects.
Among them is a work from 1941 made by Eugenie Soré and found among the waste of downtown Buenos Aires, in 2022.
The sculptures were made with empty perfume bottles donated by friends, family and strangers who kept them on their dressers for no apparent reason, other than the attachment to that object that one day knew how to store a scent incorporated as its own. They also have details made of synthetic hair previously used as extensions.
